Calling all teachers!

Looking for a proven rainforest-themed teaching resource? Look no further than the Sky Rainforest Rescue Schools Challenge!
The Sky Rainforest Rescue Schools Challenge is an interactive online programme designed for 8-14 year olds. It complements key curriculum subjects including geography (eco systems), science and citizenship / PSHE and helps develop literacy, numeracy, communication and team work skills.
Bringing the rainforest to life
The programme brings the rainforest to life through fun, practical activities helping students make meaningful links between their lives and important global issues like climate change, empowering them to make a difference. Watch a short film to see the Shawhead Primary School ‘Carbon Busters’ in action.
How it works
Schools select a team of up to 10 Explorers (students) who choose one of the following three Challenge topics:
- Food We Eat – making more sustainable food choices and understanding how the food we eat can help or hinder the rainforests.
- Stuff We Buy – how consumerism and rising demand for natural resources is impacting the rainforest and how we can make a difference through the stuff we buy.
- Energy We Use – the links between energy, climate change and the rainforest and helping the rainforest by reducing the energy we use.
The team complete their Challenge activities sharing their findings with the rest of the school. Based on 1-2 hours activity a week, a Challenge usually takes 6-8 weeks to complete.

Great learning outcomes~
We’ve had some fantastic feedback from participating schools including this comment from Liz Broderick at Bury CE High School, Lancashire: “The Challenge was very worthwhile and rewarding for the whole class… there were lots of small activities to keep them busy, a good balance between developing life skills such as time management and team working, combined with rich content that is closely linked to the curriculum.”
Students love taking part too!
“I really enjoyed researching all the different animals that live in the rainforest – the best thing is learning about things that I didn’t know before.” – Catherine, Rainforest Rescuers team
“We were really excited when we won Team of the Week. We’re now on the last step on the Challenge – once we’ve finished we are going to start on another one.” – Chloe, Global Kids team
